Pay Attention

Pay attention

So I created this meditation to share on my church’s daily prayer conference call.  I was ready.  It starts at 7:00 AM Eastern Time and I was in California.  So that meant that I was awake before 4:00 AM.  I muted the conference call and did my mediation.  Finished at 4:15 AM and went back to sleep.   I woke up hours later to text messages ,”I think you are muted” “We can’t hear you”

In the midst of preparation, I didn’t pay attention to the fact that I forgot to unmute myself. No one heard a word, so I decided that I would share my meditation as this week’s blog.

The title of the mediation ………….“Pay Attention”

“ If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you?”  Matthew 6:30-31

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”  Proverbs 3:5-6

“I will lie down and sleep in peace. O Lord, You alone keep me safe.”  Psalm 4:8

I recently rented a car and navigated through Southern Cali traffic ……..If You Know You Know.   While preparing to merge into another lane, I heard this beep,  I discovered it was a Driver Attention Monitoring.  This feature truly pays attention to the driver.

It uses an infrared camera above the steering wheel, continuously monitors: the eyes for signs of tiredness (blinking); the face and head movements for signs of distraction; and the course steered by the car in its road lane (deviations or steering movements by the driver).   This feature warned and guided me to pay closer attention.  It would beep when the car senses potentially dangerous situations developing, such as drifting over lane markings. It keeps you alert and provides warning that can include when your eyes shift away from the road or the effect of cellular use, causing the car to sound a warning.  I had rented a Kia Soul and the feature was literally taking care of my Spirit, Soul and Body and paying complete attention.  The system also reminded me of the last time that I took a break.  The system is designed to pay complete attention to the driver.

As I was driving, I thought about all the work that was put into creating this intricate Driver Attention Monitoring System.   If that much time and effort can be created for a car, how much more does God pay attention to us.

“ If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you?”  Matthew 6:30-31

God pays attention to us, and we should pay attention to God.

Pay attention to God when we pray and especially when we listen.

Pay attention to God when we read and study..

Pay attention to God when we take time to rest and be still.

God pays attention to us when we were created

God pays attention to us when we call.

God pays attention to us when we rest …. Psalm 4:8 reminds me that when I rest and sleep, God’s got me

God pays attention to us and warns us about distractions.

Pay attention to God

Pay attention to yourself

Pay attention to others.

God is the originator of the Attention Monitoring System.

Pay Attention,

Sheila
