Spoken word is life giving to me. Recently I had the opportunity to listen to one of my favorite spoken word artists - Rudy Francisco. He dropped a gem in the midst of his pieces that resonated deeply with me.
“The difference between a garden and a graveyard is by what is put in the ground.”
These sixteen words right here ….
I looked at my symbolic gardens and graveyards
In order for a seed to reach it’s full potential, it has to be buried before it can grow
Looking at what I sow To make my garden grow
Sowing seeds of grace, mercy, faith and healing Sowing discipline and creativity for a harvest of projects revealing
Sowing seeds of fasting along with rows of prayer Sowing seeds of rest, reflection, self love and self care.
In order to make sure the garden can grow, I’m pulling up the weeds that prevent it from doing so
Weeding out the doubt, the worry, the fear, Removing what will attempt to choke the harvest from being here
“The difference between a garden and graveyard is by what is put in the ground. I choose to bury the life giving seeds so that they will come to life and grow
I must weed out all the elements that will prevent it from doing so.
