ASAP: A Spark And Pause

Whenever I think of the original meaning of ASAP, sometimes it triggers a sense of urgency.

But recently, I saw different acronyms for ASAP, and instead, there was a glimmer of tranquility.

A trigger is something that sparks a negative response and creates feelings of urgency.

A glimmer is the opposite—it’s a small moment that brings peace, joy, or a sense of safety. ✨

The original meaning of ASAP is As Soon As Possible. You see it when you ask for a response and need to know how much or how little time you have. ASAP creates that sense of being rushed or in a hurry.

You also know what it’s like to be on the other end, needing a response. When they ask, “When do you need it?” you reply, “Last week.” 😅

Whether intentional or not, ASAP usually triggers hurry up.

This Instagram post encouraged and inspired me.

But recently, I saw a post on Instagram with different acronyms for ASAP, and it was a ✨ glimmer ✨—a spark of joy for me.

  • As Slow As Possible

  • As Soft As Possible

  • As Sustainable As Possible

  • As Simple As Possible

  • As Sacred As Possible

  • Allow Space And Pause

That list of acronyms sparked glimmers of joy 💫. It gave me another perspective of ASAP.

I also meditated and thought of more acronyms that would be glimmers for me:

What if ASAP could stand for acronyms that spark glimmers instead of urgency? 💫

  • As Still As Possible – A reminder to pause, embrace stillness, and breathe.

  • As Surrendered As Possible – Letting go, trusting divine timing to receive.

  • As Soulful As Possible – Moving with depth and authenticity.

  • As Serene As Possible – Prioritizing peace over urgency.

These glimmers adjust my reaction to ASAP, even though I know what the popular acronym will be.

But I can still have more acronyms that are glimmers that spark peace for me.

Another acronym for this Lent season and beyond is a special and important one:

  • As Spirit-Led As Possible – Being guided by faith and wisdom.

Sending glimmers,
