My Sister's Keeper

I Am My Sister’s Keeper

Friends love through all kinds of weather, and families stick together in all kinds of trouble.”

Proverbs 17:17(MSG)

Thankful that the gift of friendship is that you‘re never insane at the same time.

Thankful that my sister’s mind is clear, when I feel like I’m losing mine.

I am my Sister’s Keeper

Keeping confidences and knowing what we say here will stay here – and we don’t have to be in Vegas.

Yet knowing that sometimes revealing our secrets can be the very things that save us.

I am my Sister’s Keeper

Grateful for face-to-face looks, Facebook, Twitter, emails and texts that we send each other.

Grateful that community comes in many forms and keeps us connected to one another.

I am my Sister’s Keeper

It knows that when my heart speaks and mouth says nothing, that my sister still hears me.

It’s knowing that even when my mouth speaks and my heart isn’t in sync, she sees clear through me.

And lets me know I am my Sister’s Keeper

If you’ve been comforted while you wept

You know what is like to be kept

If you’ve been encouraged when you felt you had nothing left

You know what it is like to be kept If you’ve been with someone,

who you know your secrets they will protect You know what it’s like to be kept.

If you have a friendship and sisterhood that’s rooted in respect.

You know what it’s like to be kept.

I am my Sister’s Keeper

My sister keeps me.

We all need to be kept ….

In sisterhood and authenticity.

Yes, I am my Sister’s Keeper

Because I’ve been blessed to have been kept. Thank you , Lord, for my sisters.

Grateful to be kept,

Sheila P. Spencer

“Do not protect yourself with a fence, but rather by your friends.”  Czech Proverb

“Each friend represents in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born.”

Anaïs Nin

The sisters and brothers that you meet give you the materials which your character uses to build itself. It is said that some people are born great, others achieve it, some have it thrust upon them. In truth, the ways in which your character is built have to do with all three of those. Those around you, those you choose, and those who choose you.”
