“You can hide the truth but you can't get rid of it. When truth comes out in the light, we get the beauty of the world." Thornton Dial

I had the opportunity to view a project called The Masterpiece. It premiered in a local museum. Afterwards, I took time to explore the featured art. As I strolled through, I remember an art exhibit that featured masterpieces in a very unique way.
Thornton Dial, an African American artist, created a treasure of art masterpieces. I viewed an exhibit of his work and was amazed by the beauty, pain and powerful messages that he conveyed through his painting, sculptures and drawings.
But perhaps what makes his work unique are the materials that he used to create these works of art. He used discarded materials that the world perceives as junk. He used mattresses, broken coils, treaded tires, scraps and tin to create works that leave you speechless. He has the power to see beauty in broken pieces, discarded items that become masterpieces.
God, too, is the master artist. God has the ability to see treasures in each of us. There are no discarded people in His sight. God can use our mistakes, brokenness and life experiences to create a life, gift or unique calling.
A Masterpiece is defined as a work of outstanding artistry, skill, or workmanship. Ephesian 2:10 reminds us that we are God’s masterpiece. Psalm 139 reminds us that we are wonderfully made. We are living and breathing God Created workmanship and artistry that is created to change the world.
God don’t make no junk. (Yes I meant to say it exactly as I wrote it)
Michaelangelo, offered additional wisdom “Your gifts lie in the place where your values, passions, and strengths meet. Discovering that place is the first step toward sculpting your masterpiece, Your Life.”
Our life is a Masterpiece …. Uniquely created and curated. Take this week , your week and make it a masterpiece, the only thing that can stop you …. is you.
