Friendship, Wisdom and Brunch

This weekend I was enjoying Brunch with some Sistahfriends. We were sharing about life transitions, celebrations, pivots and shifts.  It was an affirming healing and vulnerable space … and we laughed and cried. As our server approached, my friend said, “Don’t mind us, just three friends being good friends.”  The server smiled and we knew she understood.  Then she dropped some wisdom. It was so rich that we asked her to say it again so that we could record it.

She shared that one of the consistent ways that that extend a woman’s life expectancy is by having a community of friends.

After brunch, I participated in an Author’s Showcase and shared the server’s wisdom and that community/friendship is the embodiment of love.  The evening ended with dinner with a group of sisters who connected through the pandemic.  In the beginning of the pandemic, we had support/focus groups facilitated by therapists to help us navigate this new normal.  We remained connected and this friendship has grounded me. There is beauty in community and friends.

“Wisdom can come from anyone at any place and anytime. Brunch with a side of wisdom was served with mine.” Sheila P Spencer

Grateful for a brunch with friends that was spiritually, physically and mentally nourishing.

And I was full all day.
