Consistent-Key
I was listening to a speaker talk about the component of developing trust. His equation was Transparency + Consistency + Empathy = Trust. When he reviewed it, he looked at the audience and smiled, “Consistency may sound boring, but it gets the job done.“ People gain trust by the simple power of witnessing the consistency of your actions
Consistent - Always behaving or happening in a similar, especially positive way.
“There may be nothing glamorous or sexy about consistency, but it you want to be successful, it holds the key. “
Sheila P Spencer
Consistent-key (No typo) is what stabilizes and grounds us. Actions that we take and attitudes we hold each day lead us to consistent outcomes each day. As I reflected more, it continued to make sense, There’s a certain cashier at my nearby Target who always greets with a smile and extra conversation. I find myself gravitating toward her line because I know that she will always have a positive word and blessing. She is consistent. When you are consistent, it is easy to see when something is off. When I was in her line and the cashier simply gave me a greeting, I knew she was having a day. I turn, I shared a positive word and blessing to her and told her I always appreciated that in her. She smiled and said, “Thank you, I wasn’t having the best day, but when I saw you in my line, I smiled and said to myself, “That’s one of my favorite customers, she consistently comes with a smile and a sincere How are You?”
Simple consistent actions impact our relationships and interaction with others. I understand why consistency is key to developing trust in relationships. When you are consistent, people know that they can rely on you. Consistent-key breeds reliability and dependability.
Consistent-key teaches us the importance of repetitive actions. Aristotle says that We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. Being Persistent will allow you to obtain it, but consistent-key will allow you to maintain it. Consistent actions are more important than perfection. Consistent actions prevent the paralysis of perfection.
