Just Ask Somebody

"If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." — James 1:5

“Just ask somebody …..”

When it comes to wisdom and direction, don’t hesitate—you better ask somebody.

One of my childhood memories involves summer road trips. Occasionally, my father would rely on his memory, and after passing the same place twice, my brother and I would say, “Daddy, we’ve already passed that!” My mom would always respond, “Just stop and ask somebody for directions.” Whenever this happened, we’d find someone familiar with the area, and we always reached our destination.

Whenever I read this scripture, “you better ask somebody” pops into my mind. It reminds me that there’s power in asking. I often told my students, “There’s no such thing as a silly question when you don’t know the answer—just ask.”

My acronym for ASK is:

  • Access

  • Spiritual

  • Knowledge

Access means actively seeking and being intentional about reaching out. It’s not passive; it requires us to pursue a relationship with God through prayer, meditation, and reflection. When we access spiritual knowledge, we aren’t just looking for answers—we’re stepping into a transformational process that reshapes our perspectives and our lives.

Spiritual—this pursuit is different from other forms of knowledge. It’s about tuning into God's wisdom and aligning ourselves with a higher truth.

Knowledge involves embracing a lifestyle of ongoing growth. As we continuously seek a deeper understanding through our relationship with God, we gain clarity, emotional stability, and even physical well-being. I love that God is generous—there’s no limit to how many questions we can ask.

As you go through your day,
ASK—Access Spiritual Knowledge. Take time to enter God's presence for spiritual wisdom. Knowledge is knowing; wisdom is knowing how to use it.

Don’t be afraid to ask God—there are no silly questions, no judgments, and no cut-off for how many times you can ask. God offers grace, mercy, love, and direction.

Don’t hesitate—you better ask somebody.
Hint: that somebody is God. And sometimes, the result of the ASK may be that God calls you to connect with a community that can help with the answer.

Just ask...

Blessings,
